Launching dataBiryani

data, science, and learning

dataBiryani is a newsletter on data, science, and learning (there may be some math, but we are not promising anything). We (Soumendra and Prathamesh) have been working on and thinking about these things for a long time now, and wanted to pen it down somewhere.

We are almost ready with our first issue: Dataframes and the proliferation of bad code in data science. Our observation is that most of the bad code written in data science projects come from the mismanagement of entity states hidden inside dataframes, resulting in inadequate abstractions and poor code.

There’ll be a new essay in the last week of every month, with our take on things related to the science and engineering of machine learning, deep learning, and data science. Some will be opinion pieces, and some could be just plain tutorials showing how to do something interesting.
